Benefits of ENERGY STAR Homes
Certified by EPA/Efficiency Vermont www.efficiencyvermont.com |
 |
| |
Use less energy for heating, cooling, and electricity.
Save money, with 30% lower energy bills than homes built to minimum state energy code requirements. Save money on operation and maintenance every year over the life of your home.
Healthier indoor air with proper ventilation and less risk of backdrafting from combustion appliances.
Greater comfort by eliminating drafts and having greater temperature control.
Reduce impacts on our natural resources.
Higher quality, durability, and long term value resulting from a better built, energy-efficient home. |
ENERGY STAR Homes Meet Stringent Performance Criteria
ENERGY STAR performance criteria are stricter than the VT Residential Energy Code. Homes that meet ENERGY STAR criteria are certified by Efficiency Vermont through a systematic inspection of construction methods, materials, and performance. |
| |
Thermal Performance. A better insulated, tighter home, with the insulation and air barrier in full contact with each other and continuous across the entire building envelope, reduces demand on fossil fuels for heating and cooling.
Ventilation/Combustion Safety. Proper ventilation improves indoor air quality, comfort, health and safety.
Lighting Standards. Energy star light fixtures, energy star appliances, and effective daylighting strategies all reduce demands on electricity. |
